To tell if it is a plug or plug wire get a pair of pliers with good rubber insulation and, while the engine is running, pull each spark plug wire off, one at a time. replacing it before going on to the next one. If removing the wire causes the engine to run worse, there is nothing wrong with that cylinder. If it has no effect on the car then something is wrong with that cylinder, most likely the plug or wire. Be careful because the plug wires can shock the s@*t out of you. There might be problems with more than one cylinder, and if you are going to keep this heap it may be time to do a tune up: replace all the plugs, plug wires, distributor cap, egr valve, air filter, oil and filter. The shaking could also be motor mounts that are broken.
