What is the connect between Christian holy days and pagan holidays?

A few friends of mine are under the impression that many so-called Christian days of worship or celebration are actually pagan feasts poorly concealed behind the guise of genuine Godly worship, and that recognizing these "fake" occasions would actually be a betrayal of the true God to Whom they were "mockingly meant to give praise". The rest of my friends are under the impression that these days of worship were deliberately placed on days which previously marked pagan holidays to emphasize that conversion had been made from the ungodly to the Godly behaviours, kind of like a purposeful replacement (ref. spanish conquistadors a la Cortes). So my question is this - WHO'S RIGHT? Am I insulting God by celebrating things on days which possibly had marked pagan, or heavenforbid demonic, events? And there are more false gods than there are days in the year so isn't it kind of pointless to try and "choose" the days to celebrate most things? Like where would you put Christmas???

Mmk...so, in the morning (on a school day...monday-friday) i eat: a light little breakfast....NOT MUCH AT ALL. and the reason i don't eat that much is because i have athletics in the morning so i don't wanna throw it all up! like, this morning i ate two oreos and i drank a sip of water. THEN when athletics was over i went through all my cles....yada yada yada...and finally lunch arrived.....for lunch you have the choices of: HOTT LUNCH, SALAD BAR, SNACK BAR, AND HAMBURGER LINE. i usually eat the hott lunch....(it's whatever the cafeteria wants to serve that day)....today, i ate hott lunch and got: a chicken-fried steak, mashed potatoes w/ gravy, a fruit punch and two whole wheat bread rolls. (it was gooood!) LOL anyways after that i go onto fifth, sixth, seventh, and finally eighth period. After eighth i get to go home at 3:45...when i get there i eat a snack that'll hold me up till dinner which is around 6 or 7. then at dinner i eat whatever my parents give me basically! LOL tonight i had two slices of pizza (since it's friday.) sooooo that's basically it.....tell me if i need to eat more or less! thanks!! -daisy.
