Anyone whos ever been to western europe can help with this q!!?

I'm travelling in july looking to head off from dunkerque and make my way to monte carlo via switzerland, italy, germany, belgium and luxemburg before making my way acorss south france e.g cannes, marsailles, nice and milau before heading back up thru france. any specially nice(non capital city) places to visit? need it to be in bottom of all the countries apart from north east italy e.g. turin.. sorry thats a lot of info but anyone have any helpful tips about choosing routes, hostels, campsites, money saving, border patrol?? anything at all would be fab!!! thankyou!
