Christians: Is baptism essential in order the Kingdom of Heaven?

As I understand in studying and reading of the New Testament, a Baptism is not needed for Your Salvation only Having Faith and True Belief on what Jesus did on the Cross for our sins and repenting and asking for forgiveness of our sins, that alone will get You into Heaven.
