How do I go about becoming a train conductor?

I am thinking about maybe becoming a train conductor, I am 19, live in Macon, GA, I have a high school diploma and I want to work for amtrak, but right now I would also consider working for a frieght line, is there a college you can go to or, does the company provide you with training?? I am planning on applying at amtrak for istant train conductor, are my odds low that I will not get the job?
