If democrats are not trying to take political advantage of the AZ shooting, why has the fairness doctrine been?

Can you blame them? Neither side are saints when it comes to political opportunism. But yet again we are to believe the Right are the victims of a push by the Left to shut them up. The only reason to fear the fairness doctrine. Is because the lies and half truths will have to cease. The one sided representation or misrepresentation by the any media outlet gone. Why is it that people are so afraid of hearing both sides of any story? Rather than just the side they personally agree with. Why insist on maintaining the status quo? Do we really need to have more 9 year old politician blood spilled simply because we'd rather have outlets that validate our personal points of view, rather than actually in form us.
